MAIZ, Linz, Austria (https://www.maiz.at) is an independent association of and for migrants with the aim to improve the living and working situation of migrants in Austria and to promote their political and cultural participation as well as to change the existing, unjust social conditions.
MAIZ acts for the legal and social betterment of all migrants and actively intervenes in the social debates on migration and (anti) racism. In addition to counseling and education, MAIZ activities include political-cultural work, public actions, and scientific research projects.
MAIZ opposes the victim discourse and voyeurism of the media and relies on protagonism, self-articulation, and collective action. For MAIZ is important to engage with migrants. In the tension between all existing contradictions, MAIZ endeavors to create collective spaces for exchange, with the aim of promoting the interests of migrants and making demands on the outside.
